Oh Gaya, this is so very, very beautiful and so deeply moving. It's made me cry and has left me quite shaken. I've only read as far as Hotspur but I already felt that Maria was a tragic and unjustly maligned character. To have married Hornblower and to have put up with his absence and worse for so long suggests to me that her strength of character equaled if not exceeded his. This is a powerful, and very timely reminder, of how we should never forget or underestimate the strength and sacrifice of those who Wait.
