Say you were Jim Moriarty and could break into anywhere, and you could carry and one thing or group of things (ie they belong in a set or they all match and make a group), but only once...

where would you break into and and what would you take?

(I know mine already but I'm interested in what things other people would steal before I divulge mine. :p )

I'd probably go to the National Gallery and take all their Rembrandts. Not sure where I'd put them in this house, but if I was Moriarty I'd have a lair with a climate-controlled wing for the art gallery and a handy conservationist or two.

I can't think of one thing I want to own that much.

I think I'd do best to steal a supply of that mega expensive drug that the Norwegians used to partly or completely cure a small number of people diagnosed with CFS (though not everybody gained the benefit).

Or, I suppose, enough money in (say) Swiss francs (a currency unlikely to collapse soon) to pay for treatment with whatever the drug is, or whatever variant may be better. Actually, why not say I'd steal enough to pay for a research program to find a solution? A lot of people would be pleased if that happened.

You know, I have no idea... Obviously there are things I wish I had that I can't afford, but I can't think of just one thing.

All the books ever by my favourite authors, and room to keep them in?

That's a very cool question! I don't think I would steal anything even if I had the ability, I can't think of any object I want enough to break in somewhere and steal it. It's not the fear of getting caught that primarily stops me, it's just not wanting to do that to another person.

I can't think of any very clever examples of something portable, very valuable yet not so famous it would be impossible to sell. And even that's just an over-elaborate way of stealing money, so not very interesting.

I might break in to a famous library and just handle and read one of the really valuable and beautiful old books that they keep under glass, but I wouldn't keep the physical copy for myself. And that would be a bit risky because I'd spend ages looking at the book instead of making a quick getaway!
